Rebuilding & Restoration

A badly worn piano can be discouraging to play. You can’t expect more than it can give. The good news is that if the piano was well-made to begin with, we can restore it to inspiring condition at a fraction of the cost of a new piano.

Our Rebuilding & Restoration Services

Rebuilding or restoration can make your old piano play and sound like a new one, and on high-quality instruments like Steinway or Mason & Hamlin, this can often be done at a fraction of the cost of a new, similar piano.  Our shop services include action rebuilding, restringing, pinblock replacement, and soundboard repair or replacement.

Steve Brady has been my piano technician since 1978. He was referred to me by my piano professor at the University of Washington. I never have considered asking anyone else to care for my beloved Mason & Hamlin parlor grand piano. When Steve told me several years ago that the strings of the 1929 Mason & Hamlin needed to be replaced, I agreed, and he had the piano carefully shipped to his studio, where the strings were replaced in just a few weeks. Since then everything has worked beautifully, and I shall always, always rely upon Steve to keep my piano in excellent shape.
